Here is a lot of information about Windows 10. I'll try to make the information easy to understand because there is a lot about this version of Windows OS (Operating System) and can be difficult to understand with all the small details.

If there are questions after you read so you can either send an SMS, e-mail or call me and I will do my best to answer all questions as best I can.

You might have heard about Windows 10 and released on July 29th.

What does this mean for you as customers ...?

Nästan alla av er som har antingen Windows 7 eller Windows 8, 8.1 har fått en liten ikon nästan längst ner till höger i systemfältet som kan ser ut som bilden nedan:

Almost all of you who have either Windows 7 or Windows 8, 8.1 have received a small icon near the bottom right of the system tray that can look like the image below:

If you have not seen such an icon, it may be due the fact that your computer is very behind with the Windows updates.

Om ni har frågor kring uppdateringar så ta kontakt med mig och jag kan förklara vad som ska göras…

Ska ni uppdatera till Windows 10?

If you have any questions about the updates, so please contact me and I can explain what to do ...

Many have experienced that Windows XP was good a good operative system and I agree!

Windows Vista, on the other hand was not so good and was finally released Windows 7, which was based on Windows Vista, but a clear improvement has been very good!

Then came Windows 8. Most of you know what I think about Windows 8. Microsoft realised soon after the release that many were unhappy because, among other things, a different kind of menu, desktop environment etc. They released a new version due to all the complaints which became Windows 8.1 but Windows 8.1 wasn’t much of an improvement on Windows 8.

Since then they have been working on a new version that became Windows 10.

Microsoft says that there will be no more new releases of Windows OS (Operating System) after Windows 10. Instead, there will be changes in the form of major updates. Right now it's too early to know exactly what this means for us as users, but Microsoft will tell us more about this eventually.

I advise a little caution before updating to Windows 10. The first few weeks will show us how it works, what problems have been detected and corrected, etc.

I recommend that you wait at least two to three months before you take the next step and upgrade to Windows 10.

Those of you that have Windows 7 have support for your computers until April 2020 and do not need to upgrade to Windows 10 if you do not want to.

Without being too technical, I want to tell you what applies to you personally regarding the update to Windows 10.

I personally (and many give computer support, doing repairs, reinstallations, etc.) have never experienced that upgrading from one Windows version to another is a good idea.
It is always better to install a clean version of an operating system and not have a mixture of two. But in this case to get this so-called free upgrade to Windows 10 you have to update the version you have right now.

When upgrading from for example Windows 7 to Windows 10, an activation of the Windows 10 takes place and applies for the computer that you are upgrading.

Microsoft says that the activation key is stored on their servers in case you need to replace the old disk with a new one at a later time.

* Note: This only applies to the computer you upgrade. Windows 10 free upgrade is tied specifically to the hardware in your computer that you upgrade. Replacing a faulty hard drive is not normally a problem - but if you experience any problems with activation after replacing the system drive; then you will have to contact Microsoft support for help with that.

What do DatorNissen think you should do?

For everything to work as smoothly as possible I recommend that you back up your files and restore your computer to factory settings without having left your user information and then update the computer today’s date before you upgrade to Windows 10.

Most computers purchased in stores today have a so-called Recovery Partition in case you have problems with your computer the future.

Many of you have created recovery discs when you first bought your computer that can be used to restore the computer to factory settings (to the day you bought the computer)

I know that many of you will you need help with this, So please give DatorNissen a call!

After you have upgraded your computer to Windows 10

The upgrade process is similar for Windows 7 and Windows 8 / 8.1. and when you have upgraded to Windows 10, you can in case of hard drive failure do a clean install of Windows 10 on a new hard drive and be able to activate it according to what Microsoft has to said!

* Note: Only on the computer you upgraded from Windows7, 8, and 8.1.

Free license (upgrade to Windows 10) holds as long as your computer works. If the computer stops working - then dies license with your computer.

I want to say that there is much information to be downloaded from Microsoft's own web pages about the upgrade.

Finally

I will not go into all the details about the upgrade due to the fact there is a lot to write, and secondly it is better that you contact me and I can go into the details of exactly how it affects you on your specific computer.
